Discovering Dante in his city (DAN)
|
|
Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) is known world-wide as the author of the Divine Comedy, the poem written in the “vulgar” language of his time. The poem was divided into 3 canticles: Inferno, Purgatory and Paradise. The work’s hundred cantos are considered absolute masterpieces of world literature in the mastery of their construction, changeability of form, and incomparable expressive wealth. In Florence students, Italian Language scholars and tourists who love all things beautiful can easily cross the historic medieval center of the city in search of places, artworks and buildings that Dante knew and were made during his time.
